THUNDER BAY – After all the late season snow, perhaps here is a sure sign that spring is nearer.
Spring leaf and yard waste collection will take place between Tuesday, May 9, and Friday, May 19, on the regular recycling day indicated in residents’ 2017 Waste Collection Calendars.
Leaf and yard waste must be placed in Kraft paper bags for collection. Branches and sticks bundled with rope or twine are also accepted. Bundles must be less that 1 metre (39 inches) long and 61 cm (24 inches) in diameter.
There is no item limit on leaf and yard waste, but items must weigh less than 18 kg or 40 lbs.
Leaf and yard waste materials are taken to the City of Thunder Bay Solid Waste & Recycling Facility and made into soil-enriching compost.
