THUNDER BAY – HEALTH – The food recall warning issued on April 14, 2017, has been updated to include additional product information.

High Liner Foods Inc. is recalling various High Liner, High Liner Captain’s Crew and Portico Bounty brands of breaded fish and seafood products from the marketplace because they may contain milk which is not declared on the label. People with an allergy to milk should not consume the recalled products described below. Distributors, retailers and food service establishments such as hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, hospitals and nursing homes should not sell or use the recalled products described below.

If you have an allergy to milk, do not consume the recalled products as they may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction.

Background

This recall was triggered by the company. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products. If other high-risk products are recalled, the CFIA will notify the public through updated Food Recall Warnings.

The CFIA is verifying that industry is removing recalled products from the marketplace.

Reactions

There have been no reported reactions associated with the consumption of these products. There was one reported reaction associated with one of the products included in the Food Recall Warning of April 14, 2017.
