Stabbing Suspect Arrested by Police

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – A stabbing on the north-side of the city has a man in custody facing charges. A forty-three-year-old man faces aggrevated assault charges following an incident Saturday morning in the 100 block of South Cumberland Street.

Uniformed officers were called to the scene at about 04:00AM EDT on Saturday morning to provide assistance to a forty-one-year-old man who had been stabbed.

The victim of the stabbing was transported by Superior EMS to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre to have his injuries tended to.

Police report that their subsequent investigation of the incident revealed that the two men had been drinking at a nearby apartment and that is where the stabbing occurred.

Police report that an arrest in this incident has been made. ERNEST KEITH NINGEWANCE of Thunder Bay was seen in the area of Court and Cornwall Streets at about 16:00EDT on Saturday. He was taken into custody and after his arrest was remanded into custody after a court hearing.
