OTTAWA – Speaking in Ottawa, Assembly of First Nations National Chief Perry Bellegarde says that the money promised in Budget 2017 that the funds allocated are needed.
“The gap and the needs are so huge,” says the National Chief.
The promises made by the Liberal Government to end the water crisis in First Nations is welcomed.
“There is still more work to do,” comments the National Chief. One of the goals is making sure that fire safety in the First Nations communities remains a priority.
“Canadians get it, Canadians get the business case, Canadians get the education case,” states Bellegarde. “The investments needed will start closing the gap and making a needed difference”.
The National Chief struggling through a cold, says that “There is no better way to make a difference in First Nations lives than education”.
The National Chief is also seeking and supporting efforts for Indigenous language training.
“There is good energy,” the National Chief states.
