Cousin of Tina Fontaine Shot and Killed in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG – NEWS –   was shot and died as a result of the gunshot wound after an attack at her north end Winnipeg home.  Jeanenne Fontaine is the cousin of Tina Fontaine. Tina Fontaine was murdered in Winnipeg in 2014. Her case brought the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women’s issue to the front of the national headlines.

The home was also set on fire. As a result of the on-going investigation led by Homicide investigators, the fire is believed to have been deliberately set.

Rhonda Flett, the aunt of Jeanenne Fontaine told media, “She was a lively, beautiful Native girl … everybody wanted to be around her. She was kind. She liked to laugh. She made us laugh. She’s going to very missed. We’re going to miss her a lot. A piece of our family got taken and can’t be replaced.”
