Thunder Bay Police Lay Child Porn Charges

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Police Service Cyber Crime Unit began an investigation in November 2016 after an online investigation of Child Pornography. The investigation resulted in a search warrant being executed at a residence in the 300 block of Southgate Court on January 25, 2017.

Officers seized eleven various computer related devices such as laptops, USB’s and hard drives. Further examination revealed child pornography.

On February 28, 2017, Gary George Somerfield , 59 years old attended to Balmoral Police Station and was charged with Make Available Child Pornography and Possession of Child Pornography. He appeared in court on March 1, 2017 and has been released with a future court date.
