THUNDER BAY – Ontario Regional Chief Isadore Day is looking to solutions. The ORC is proposing a youth camp that will bring together young people, Elders and traditional culture.

Regional Chief Day states, “We are ramping up a grass-roots; community-based; unity focused; youth/elder balanced; LAND BASED CULTURE CAMPS NETWORK in the Ontario Region.

“My brother Isaac Murdoch and friend Gilbert A Jacob, approached me on numerous occasions to help them advance their efforts — these men and others like Garry Sugarhead are now getting aligned to occupy an important and unattended field — in the collective movement of Indigenous Culture Camps in the effort to address #Suicide at the community level!!!

“I’ve asked Isaac and Gilbert to ensure we have equal representation. #GenderBalance will be key. This is an important point that will ensure balance and equity in shared views, customary values and show a family-based component to help in healing processes.

“These people are so important to the nationhood and helping process in our communities”.

Next steps will be public soon!
