Fire Crews Battle Victor Street Blaze

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Fire Rescue report that at approximately 6:30 PM they received an alarm for a structural fire on south Victor Street.

Upon arriving pumpers encountered a single storey home with flames shooting from the rear.

A second alarm was called and crews began battling the fire.

Five pumpers and an Aerial Ladder were on scene with approximately twenty-five fire fighters.

The occupant was not at home when fire crews arrived but arrived a short time later. The fire was brought under control by an exterior attack with spot fires extinguished from the interior once it was deemed safe to do so.

Fire Inspectors will attend and begin an investigation.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. The home suffered heavy damage to the rear of the structure with extensive fire and smoke damage throughout. The home is uninhabitable now.
