THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Environment Canada says that the first significant snow storm of the season is headed into the region.
Winter storm warning in effect for:

- Dryden – Vermillion Bay
- Upsala – Raith – English River
- Ignace
- Sioux Lookout – Hudson
- Red Lake
- Pickle Lake

The weather service reports, “A Colorado low will head towards the Great Lakes tonight and linger near Lake Superior on Tuesday. Snow in advance of the low will spread across Northwestern Ontario today and became rather heavy at times tonight into Tuesday. Total snowfall accumulations of 20 to locally 30 centimetres are likely before it tapers off Tuesday night”.
The weather conditions are likely to impact local highways, and possibly air travel.
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
Updates will be provided as conditions mandate as this weather system enters the region.
