Sioux Lookout OPP Respond to Barricaded Male in Home

SIOUX LOOKOUT –  Sioux Lookout OPP were busy on Thursday with a potentially dangerous call for service. A man barricaded himself inside a residence on Seventh Avenue, and OPP were told that there were potentially weapons in the home.

The call came into officers at about 5:30PM CST on Thursday. Upon arriving to check on the well-being of the man, he barricaded himself in the home.

Police officers then took the needed precautions to ensure that the scene was contained, and that area residents were safe.

Area residents were taken to the Sioux Lookout Recreation Centre to assure their safety.

 

The call required members of the OPP North West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), the K9 Unit and the Sioux Lookout OPP detachment offices.

Added support was provided by the Sioux Lookout OPP Crime Unit.

At about 10:15 PM CST the man came out of the residence and was taken into custody. The man was transported to the Sioux Lookout hospital suffering from minor injuries.
