Those who participated in the Christmas Wish Bag Campaign filled bags with essential items, toys, books, clothing and learning tools for children between the ages of 0 and 17. Each bag came with a special child profile that provided details about the boy or girl who will receive the wish bag, such as their age and what they are interested in.

THUNDER BAY – Hundreds of children and youth throughout the region will have a special Christmas this year thanks to the generosity and contributions of community members, businesses and organizations. Dilico Anishinabek Family Care is thrilled to announce that its 2016 Christmas Wish Campaign was an absolute success, exceeding its goal to fill 700 Christmas Wish bags.

Dilico Anishinabek Family Care, Director of Child Welfare, Carmela Hardy, says; “Christmas truly starts with me and you. Miigwetch to all of the wonderful families and individuals who participated in this year’s Dilico Christmas Wish Bag Campaign. This is the best gift you can give.  We all remember waking up on Christmas morning as children and experiencing that special joy. Together we are creating happy holidays for children that need it the most. Dilico is overjoyed with the continued support from our communities.”

This is the 8th year Dilico Anishinabek Family Care has been coordinating the Christmas Wish Bag Campaign in the district of Thunder Bay for children in need. Next week Dilico elves will be busy organizing and distributing the bags so Santa can deliver them to 704 boys and girls across the region.
