Too many drivers seem to be willing to risk it when it comes to impaired driving

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police report that just after midnight on December 18, 2016, a vehicle traveling northbound on Algoma Street struck a light pole.

The driver reportedly exited the vehicle and began running west up Dawson Street. A witness on scene, called police and then gave chase after the driver and made a citizens arrest.

A nineteen-year-old local man now faces charges of impaired driving and driving with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. The suspect male decided to assault the witness in police presence adding a common assault charge to his arrest.

The individual will be appearing in court later this morning.
