STANDING ROCK – The Dakota Pipeline protesters have won a victory.

“The Sioux people of Standing Rock have shown us how determined, organized and unarmed people can face down the immense forces of corporate and state power,” states Charlie Angus MP. The Timmins James Bay MP adds, “Standing Rock has made history in the struggle for Indigenous equity and environmental justice. It was unacceptable that so many people had to put themselves at physical risk just to have the right to be heard about development of their land. But Standing Rock showed how Indigenous and non-Indigenous people across Turtle Island can stand together and face down the man. I want to thank the US Army Corps of Engineers for making the right call in backing down rather than risk more people being hurt”.

A gathering in Thunder Bay scheduled for noon is being held.
