THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority has issued a Flood Outlook Statement for the Lakehead Region including: City of Thunder Bay, Municipalities of Neebing, Oliver Paipoonge, Shuniah and the Townships of O’Connor, Conmee, Gillies and Dorion.

Area gauges have recorded approximately 10 millimetres of precipitation this morning, with another 50 millimetres possible overnight. Water levels and flows are currently low in area watercourses; however, forecasted precipitation mixed with snow melt will result in a rise in area watercourses tonight and into tomorrow throughout the Lakehead Region.

The public is advised to exercise caution in and around area waterways. Ponding and localized flooding in low lying areas is likely. Parents· and caregivers advised to keep children away from all waterways and discuss the  hazards of flooding and fast flowing  water.

A Watershed Conditions Statement- Flood Outlook is issued to give early notice of the potential for flooding.

Authority Staff will continue to monitor conditions as part of its flood forecasting and warning program.
