GERALDTON – The Ontario Provincial Police report that a fifty-one-year-old Geraldton woman is dead following a motor vehicle accident on Highway 11. OPP say that an east-bound sport utility vehicle collided with a west-bound transport truck at about 10:30AM on Wednesday morning. One of the vehicles apparently crossed the median.

The highway was closed for several hours as a result of the accident and the investigation following the crash.

The deceased, Kimberely Vaughn was a passenger in the SUV. The driver of the transport truck was not injured.

OPP are continuing their investigation, but report that a factor in the accident was the conditions on the road.

With winter conditions expected for Friday and into Saturday across parts of Northwestern Ontario and the Northshore of Lake Superior, taking extra caution and being prepared for winter driving conditions is important.
