THUNDER BAY – A Canadian built houseboat has washed up on the shores of Ireland. There is, it appears, a connection to a Canadian, Rick Small who apparently built the houseboat.
Small was in Thunder Bay several years ago, in 2012, as a part of a cross Canada tour on a solar powered electric bike.
The Irish Coast Guard report, “We were tasked by MRSC Malin following a call from a member of the public who while he was out walking came across an unusual type of vessel washed up onto the shore near Cross Beach. We managed to secure the vessel for the night. Efforts will be made to remove the vessel from the shore tomorrow.”
The houseboat according to the coast guard in Ireland was reportedly in Halifax earlier this year.
Exactly how the houseboat survived the trip across the North Atlantic, drifting unmanned across the seas isn’t known.
Irish authorities are tasked now with ensuring that the houseboat is secured.
