THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Police Service report, “On the evening of Friday, November 4, 2016 members of the Criminal Investigations Branch arrested a 25 year old Thunder Bay man at a north side residence without incident for a violent sex assault that occurred during the early morning hours of October 23, 2016”.
On Saturday, November 5, 2016, James Okane appeared by way of video before a Justice of the Peace. He was remanded to the District Jail on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault, Overcoming Resistance (choking), Utter Threats to Kill and Forcible Confinement.
His next court date is Monday, November 7, 2016.
This complex investigation utilized many resources of the Thunder Bay Police Service including the Criminal Investigation Branch, the Forensic Identification Unit, the Community Response Team, the Intelligence Unit and Uniform Patrol. The TBPS also utilized outside resources from agencies including the Northern Regional Forensics Lab and Ontario Provincial Police Behavioral Science’s Unit in Orillia.
A special thanks to the numerous community members and businesses for coming forward with information to assist with this investigation. Cooperation like this is essential in piecing together the facts that help direct the investigation allowing for the identification and arrest of the suspect.
