Immigrating to Northwestern Ontario

THUNDER BAY – Moving to Northwestern Ontario is a decision that tens of thousands of people have taken over the years. At the Northwestern Ontario Immigration Forum this week, the discussion panel with Stephanie Ash of Firedog Communications, Farhan Yousaf of the Lakehead University Students Union, and Liana Frenette of TBT Engineering shared their experiences and wisdom with the forum.

Many seemingly small issues that people immigrating to Canada pose real barriers to business entrepreneurs as the panel members shared with the audience.

Simple things like getting a telephone, opening a bank account and gaining the needed approvals for getting business equipment are a few of those large challenges.

Moving forward, Thunder Bay Multicultural Association, the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission *(CEDC) and other agencies are working to make sure that the pathways to connect entrepreneurs and immigration are made as smooth as possible.
