Kasabonika Lake Man Faces Murder Charge

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – A thirty-year-old Kasabonika Lake First Nation man faces charges of Second Degree Murder following an incident in Kasabonika Lake. On October 19th, the Nishnawbe-Aski Police responded to a call outside a home in the community.

Upon arriving on the scene, NAPS officers found Alec Tom McKay, a fifty-four year old man in need of medical attention. He was quickly pronounced dead.

The Ontario Provincial Police were then engaged in the investigation. As a result of the investigation, George Darren McKay, a thirty-year old man also from Kasabonika Lake has been charged in the death of Alec Tom McKay.

 

A post mortem exam will be taking place at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital on October 20th.

George Darren McKay is currently remanded in custody and appeared in court in Kenora on October 20th.

NAPS along with the OPP and the North West Region Crime Unit are continuing their investigation of the circumstances surrounding the death.
