Ontario SIU Investigating Incident in Pikangikum

Pikangikum First Nation – Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the injuries sustained by a 40-year-old man yesterday on the Pikangikum First Nations Territory.

Preliminary information suggests the following:

  1. At approximately 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, police received a complaint regarding an impaired driver.
  2. An investigation was conducted and a man was arrested and taken to the detachment.
  3. The man was later diagnosed by a doctor with an arm injury.

Two investigators have been assigned to investigate this incident.

The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529.
