THUNDER BAY – BUSINESS – The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce today launched the nomination process for their 2017 Business Awards of Excellence with the announcement of a new award that recognizes the changing nature of the city’s economy and the growing diversity of the business community.
Chamber President Charla Robinson described the Game Changer Award as a way of celebrating the spirit of collaboration and out-of-the-box thinking that characterizes much of the new business development in the region. “In recent years Thunder Bay has seen a lot of changes – our forestry and mining sectors have faced the ups and downs that are typical of global commodities. Through it all, Thunder Bay has been reinventing itself and now boasts a business community that includes both traditional and innovative sectors. It’s time to recognize the Game Changers,” Robinson said.
At Impact Promotions today, Robinson officially opened the online nominations for the 2017 Business Awards and announced a prize draw for anyone making an eligible nomination; after nominations close on December 31st one lucky winner will be awarded a free trip for 2 anywhere sponsor Porter Airlines flies. Anyone may nominate a local business, however only Members in Good Standing of the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce are eligible to win a Chamber Business Award of Excellence.
Robinson also noted a change to the nomination process and the time-frame. “In keeping with the idea of the Game Changer, we’ve also changed up our nomination process to make it simpler and earlier. You can now nominate online in about a minute; and we’ll be closing nominations on the 31st of December to allow nominees more time to complete their submissions,” she said.
The 22nd annual Chamber of Commerce Business Awards of Excellence is presented by long-time sponsor Bell Canada and will be held on April 8, 2017. The Game Changer award is described on the Chamber of Commerce website as “an individual or organization who introduces new offerings, breakthrough solutions or a revolutionary approach to enhance our lives and challenge the status quo. Through their collaborative efforts they inspire Thunder Bay leaders and businesses to think differently about how they serve their clients, employees and community.”
