Thunder Storm Warning

THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Environment Canada has issued (at 12:45AM EDT) a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Atikokan and Shebandowan as well as Quetico Park.

At 12:03AM CDT an additional Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect as well for Fort Frances – Rainy Lake. At 11:03 p.m. CDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain.

A line of severe thunderstorms is in the vicinity of Namakan Lake and International Falls. These thunderstorms are likely to produce nickel size hail, strong winds and heavy rain.

Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:

  • Atikokan – Shebandowan – Quetico Park

At 11:45 p.m. EST (12:45 a.m. EDT), Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain.

A cluster of severe thunderstorms is near Sand Point Lake. These thunderstorms are likely producing nickel size hail, heavy rain and very strong wind gusts.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
