THUNDER BAY – ROADS – The City of Thunder Bay advises motorists and cyclists that there are several road closures.

The intersection at Balmoral Street and Hewitson Street will be closed on Friday, August 26 to allow for the construction of a new storm sewer.

The closure affects the east side of Balmoral Street (side on which the Keg is located). The intersections on Balmoral Street at Sibley Drive and William Street have both reopened.
Businesses located along Hewitson Street will remain open and can be accessed via Carrick Street.
The closure is expected to last until Wednesday, August 31.
The construction schedule is subject to change, as various factors – such as weather – can have an impact on project timelines.
Culvert replacement work will require the closure of a small section of Mapleward Road between Laval Street and Highway 11/17 beginning on Monday, Aug 29.

While local traffic will have access to the area, other through traffic will not be permitted. Drivers intending to access Mapleward Road to the south of Laval Street will be required to do so from Arthur Street. Similarly, the section of Mapleward Road to the north of the culvert location will be accessible from Highway 11/17.
The closure is expected to last approximately one week.
Motorists are asked to use extra caution and obey all posted signage when travelling near the construction area.
