THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay’s Strongest Man 2016 is in the books. The Annual Competition sees strongmen and strongwomen compete against themselves and each other all in the spirit of competition and sportsmanship.

The annual event that fires up the Wayland Hotel parking lot in Westfort brings out hundreds of spectators to take in the event. The event supports Camp Quality – a very worthy cause.

The winner of the 2016 Strongman competition was Kyle Rayner from Iron Performance Gym. Rayner held on to his title for the second year, but it wasn’t easy. He worked through injuries and pain to hold his title, demonstrating the kind of

The entire event has been evolving in a spectacular manner over the past years. Increasingly the event is attracting families and young children along with teenagers. A group of youth from the Vale Community Council attended the event this year, onboard the Mercedes Benz Kasper Mini Bus. Getting exposure to the positive energy of the strongmen and strong women is a great way to inspire youth to reach for their goals.

The event’s evolution is a testament to the efforts of the competitors, sponsors and organizers.

Each year the event has grown in size and in popularity. Thunder Bay has become in the opinion of many people the hot spot for the growing sport of strongman in Canada.

Over time, there are a growing number of new faces who are participating, and making the event grow. It has become a miniature Westfort fixture that helps bring Thunder Bay together.
