THUNDER BAY – ROAD UPDATES – There are, as all “Wags” in Thunder Bay know, really only two seasons in our city. Construction Season and Winter. The City of Thunder Bay is advising the public on a couple of road closures that will be impacting travel.

A section of Oliver Road between Ray Boulevard and Rupert Street will be closed on Tuesday, July 26 as new sewer and water services are installed.

The closure will be in effect from 6 am to approximately 4:30 pm, or until work is complete.

While the road will be closed to through traffic, local traffic will be permitted. The eastbound sidewalk will also be closed and pedestrians will be required to use the westbound sidewalk.

The intersection at William Street and Balmoral Street will be partially closed as of Tuesday, July 26 to facilitate the construction of a new storm sewer.

The closure affects the west side of Balmoral Street, or the side on which the Thunder Bay District Health Unit is located. The east side of the intersection remains open to traffic.

The closure is expected to last until Friday, July 29.

The construction schedule is subject to change, as various factors – such as weather – can have an impact on project timelines.

Those travelling near the construction zone are asked to use extra caution and obey all posted signage.
