FORT FRANCES – WEATHER – Temperatures are expected to soar through Northwestern Ontario over the next several days.

Heat Warning in effect for:

  • Fort Frances – Emo – Rainy River
  • Kenora
  • Seine River Village – Mine Centre
  • Sioux Narrows – Nestor Falls

Humidex values reaching near 40 are expected.

A sizzling mid summer airmass is forecast to move into Northwestern Ontario from the Northern United States beginning this afternoon.
Temperatures will are expected to reach the 29 degree mark this afternoon, then climb further into the low thirties Wednesday through Friday. Afternoon humidex values will likely reach 40 beginning Wednesday.

With early morning low temperatures in the upper teens to low twenties, little relief is expected from the heat and humidity.

This heat wave is expected to come to an end on Saturday when cooler and less humid air arrives from the west.

Heat illnesses are preventable.

Frequently visit neighbours, friends and older family members, especially those who are chronically ill, to make sure that they are cool and hydrated.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
