THUNDER BAY – The intersection at Simpson Street and Robertson Street will be temporarily closed starting on Monday, July 18, as sewer and water service tie-ins are completed.
While the entire work area stretches between Ogden Street and Pacific Avenue, only the intersection will be under construction and completely closed to traffic. The closure is expected to last approximately two weeks.
Drivers will be required to follow the posted detour but pedestrian access will not be affected. All businesses located within the work area will remain open throughout the duration of the construction.
Construction on the covered pedestrian walkway is now complete and pedestrian traffic may resume on the multi-use trail running beneath the Neebing River Bridge on Highway 61, just north of Arthur Street.
Temporary lighting has also been installed on the trail, which connects Wolverine Crescent in Parkdale to Thornloe Drive in Northwood.
As construction continues on the Neebing River Bridge, trail users are advised to use extra caution and obey all posted signage when travelling near the work area.
Motorists are asked to use extra caution, reduce their speed, and obey all posted signage when travelling in the construction area.
