THUNDER BAY – Olivia Semenick is originally from Thunder Bay. The recent graduate of Algonquin College now lives in Ottawa.

The young woman is in the running for Miss Ukrainian Canada. The grande finale for the pageant is July 16th in Mississauga at the Mississauga Living Arts Centre.

From her bio – Olivia is from a small city in Northern Ontario. Her family has always been keeping Ukrainian traditions throughout the many generations. Just over ten years ago she began taking an interest in Ukrainian dance, and has fallen in love ever since. She enjoyed learning about the different steps along with the appropriate region, and of course the story behind every dance. When it comes to representing the Ukrainian culture, she takes great pride in representing Ukraine through dance.

Recently, Olivia has graduated from the Massage Therapy program at Algonquin College, and cannot wait to start her practice. She enjoys meeting new people, and the ability of helping others through therapeutic touch. Because of the program, Olivia has been able to work with a variety of clientele, which has given her joy and excitement towards helping more people.

In her spare time, she loves taking and editing pictures, knitting, dancing, and enjoying an amazing coffee with friends. Olivia hopes that through Miss Ukraine Canada, she will be able to showcase Ukrainian culture, all its richness and diversity.
