Thunder Storm Warning

THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – There is a Severe Thunder Storm Watch in Effect as of 03:00AM EDT.

Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:

  • Atikokan – Shebandowan – Quetico Park
  • Upsala – Raith
  • Sioux Lookout
  • Dryden Ignace
  • Sioux Lookout – Eastern Lac Seul
  • Kenora – Nestor Falls
  • Savant Lake – Sturgeon Lake

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms beginning near dawn this morning and continuing into mid morning. These thunderstorms may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.
