Youth Are Leading Now – Chief Day
THUNDER BAY – Ontario Regional Chief Isadore Day says Attawapiskat Youth are setting the direction and sending a strong message of hope to Indigenous Youth across Canada. This week, youth from the far northern Ontario community of Attawapiskat will be meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The Attawapiskat Youth will meet Monday along with leaders from AFN and NAN to express to Prime Minister Trudeau the importance of issues that face them in their lives.
Chief Day, speaking from Thunder Bay says, “I want to take a moment to commend First Nation Leadership”.
“We couldn’t have had this meeting any sooner, the young people have been waiting long enough. They have serious issues to place before the Prime Minister”.
“I think when we take the time to listen to the youth, today the struggles seem greater than ever,” added Chief Day. “Young people today, in spite of everything have a strength and resiliency. It has been said our young people are the leaders of tomorrow, but I think the youth are leading today”.
“The solutions offered by the youth are key to solving the problems”.
