THUNDER BAY – The search for a missing woman from Mishkeegogamang has ended in tragedy and in a mystery. Charnelle Masakeyash first was reported missing November 8 2015. She was last seen on November 6 2015.

After she was reported missing there was an extensive ground search, that included community members, the Ontario Provincial Police, the Canadian Rangers and other helpers. No evidence was found through the search.

However now, a bone that was found is the only clue that has come forward. The human remains were examined at the Office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto and have now been positively identified as belonging to Charnelle Masakeyash.

The search for remaining human remains is continuing, as is the investigation into the death of Charnelle Masakeyash is ongoing.

The investigation into the disappearance of Charnelle Masakeyash is currently being conducted by members from the Sioux Lookout detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police.
