Regional Crime ReportDRYDEN – Dryden Police arrested two men on the afternoon of May 31st, following a pursuit eastbound on Highway #17 and north on Highway 72.

Police report, “At approximately 2:20 pm, a local woman reported that her vehicle had been stolen from the Golden Mile Plaza and that she was following it in another vehicle. Police caught up with the vehicle, just as it turned onto Highway 72 and followed it north, however the pursuit was terminated due to speed and public safety concerns.

Dryden Police were assisted by members of the Dryden detachment of Ontario Provincial Police, side roads were searched and at 3:25 pm the vehicle was located on a dead end road, at which time the two males , ages 27 and 28 of no fixed address, were arrested. Both are charged with theft over $5000 and one man with flight from Police and dangerous driving. They appeared in bail court on June 1st and were remanded in custody.

 

On Wednesday, June 1st at 1:25 pm Dryden Police were alerted to a suspicious person in the yard of a Pitt Avenue residence. Upon arrival, officers noted the rear door to the home was open, and found some items inside had been thrown around and damaged. There was no one in the residence. Witnessed provided additional information regarding the woman, and just before 3:00 pm, a 22-year-old female was arrested at a nearby apartment complex. She has been charged with break and enter and mischief under $5000 and held in custody for a bail hearing.
