Thunder Bay has issued Water Survey Report

THUNDER BAY – Work on a north-side watermain may cause discoloured water for some residents beginning Wednesday, May 25 through Friday, May 27. The water supply to the watermain at Algoma Street and MacDougall Street will be shut down at 8 am on Wednesday, May 25, Thursday, May 26, and Friday, May 27, in order for new watermains to be connected to existing ones. Water service to the main is expected to be turned back on at the end of each day at around 5 pm.

As a result of this work, residents along Algoma Street and Memorial Avenue, and from MacDougall Street to First Avenue may notice discoloured water coming from their taps. Residents are advised to follow the steps below if they notice their water is discoloured.

1. Do not open any HOT water taps.

2. Open only one COLD water tap (a tap that does not have a water filter system attached to it) and allow the water to flow at a medium flow until the water runs clear.

3. Once the single COLD water tap is running clear, open all other taps including HOT water taps and flush until all water runs clear.

Running cold water taps for five minutes should clear any discoloured water. If discolouration returns, please repeat steps 1 to 3.

If the water does not clear after following the procedure above, residents can contact Infrastructure & Operations Dispatch at 625-2195.
