No Injuries in Apartment Fire
THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Fire Rescue report that just before 2:00 AM May 17, 2016 firefighters were called out to a fire alarm ringing in a three unit apartment building in the 200 Block of Manitou Street.
First arriving crews were met by a female tenant in the rear of the building, Apt. C where some light smoke conditions were first encountered. It was soon discovered that the fire was in fact seated within an interior wall and adjacent ceiling area. Once found, fire was quickly extinguished.
It would take some however to perform overhaul operations to make sure fire extension was contained. Fire, smoke and water damage was extensive in Apt. C with the front portion of the building, Apts. A- B having light to moderate smoke infiltration.
The tenant from Apt. C had self-evacuated from the building with TBFR personnel aiding in evacuating tenants from Apts. A-B.
There were no injuries to any of the tenants or to TBFR personnel on the fire ground. With the utilities being disconnected from the building,
The Red Cross was contacted and was to provide assistance to any of the occupants in need of their services.
Thunder Bay Fire Inspection personnel will attend the scene later today to determine fire cause.
