THUNDER BAY – On April 18, 2016, Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue responded to a Two-Alarm structural fire in the 1000 block of Alexandra Street at approximately 1:00AM EDT.

Crews arrived to find the rear of a 1 ½ story home engulfed in flames.

Attack lines were advanced through the adjacent yard to knock down the fire with additional lines used to protect the homes on either side.

The fire proved to be stubborn to extinguish as it had advanced into the walls and attic space, fueled by a compromised gas meter.

Residents were alerted by neighbors and all evacuated safely.

The structure sustained significant damage due to the fire and suppression efforts, crews remained on scene throughout the night. There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
