CCM RookieTHUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Thursday that Fort Frances Lakers forward Cole Tymkin has been named the CCM Hockey rookie of the year for the 2015-16 season.

Tymkin topped fellow CCM Hockey rookie of the year finalists Nash Dabb of the English River Miners and Brad Thrower of the Thunder Bay North Stars for the award, in balloting completed by each of the SIJHL’s member clubs.

In 49 games played, Tymkin led all SIJHL rookies in offensive production with 48 points on 15 goals and 33 assists.

That was also good enough to place the 16-year-old Fort Frances product ninth overall in league scoring.

In the 15-year history of the SIJHL, Tymkin becomes the sixth player from a Fort Frances-based franchise to garner the accolades.

The last to do so was Lucas DeBenedet back in 2013-14.
