THUNDER BAY – There are a lot of reasons to start feeling “the roar” as the 2016 Staal Foundation Open presented by Tbaytel keeps building momentum for the July event at the Whitewater Golf Club.
First, increasingly this is a community effort fueled by the strong base of volunteer support across Thunder Bay. As the call goes out for volunteers for the 2016 event, that demand will be met. Janzen’s Pharmacy has stepped up once again as the Volunteer Sponsor for the Mackenzie Tour PGA TOUR Canada event.
The excitement and enthusiasm of tournament volunteers and organizers was very evident on Friday at the newest location of Janzen’s Pharmacy in Current River. It is encouraging to see a local century old company stepping up and showing support not only in our city, but in an event of this magnitude.
Second, you can already see that the Staal Foundation Open is bringing positive energy, positive messages and sharing what is great about our community with the hockey and golfing world.
The tournament is headed into its third year. During that time, due to the efforts of organizers and volunteers, it has become one of the premier stops on the Canadian Tour. If you have not been to the Whitewater Golf Club during the tournament, but had been to a Web.com Tour or PGA TOUR event, you might well think that the Thunder Bay event is one of the big tour stops.
Third, the energy and vision of the organizing team is looking at building the game of golf and making future generations of young people across the city enthusiastic about the game.
Bringing golf to the youth through the SNAG Golf initiative, which is being shared with local schools and clubs, including the Boys and Girls Club, the Staal Foundation Open is helping to build the future in a sport that can benefit those young players.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the entire team helping build this PGA TOUR Canada stop are sharing an enormous amount of positive and proactive energy. In just a couple of years, the Staal Foundation Open has demonstrated what can be done with a good group of people and supporters.
All of these points are just part of the reason that NetNewsLedger.com is one of the proud media sponsors of the tournament.
We encourage everyone to find a way to support this amazing event. Get involved as a volunteer, get ready to go to the tournament, share the roar!
