NIPIGON – Patty Hajdu, Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay—Superior North, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, has announced an investment of $947,887 in support of community economic and tourism development in the Township of Nipigon.
“We would like to thank the Government of Canada for supporting our diversification efforts that will stimulate business investment and growth, and build on tourism opportunities linked to the Lake Superior National Marine Conservation travel corridor,” said Richard Harvey, Mayor, Township of Nipigon.
The FedNor contribution will enable the township to implement the first phase of its waterfront development plan aimed at capturing a greater percentage of visitors travelling through the region in the summer months. Specifically, the funding will be used to design and build an observation tower and lookout area, as well as a boardwalk and an outdoor events park.
