American Presidential Politics

The Simpsons have taken a swipe at the American Presidential Race.

The battles are getting gritty, increasingly personal, and the battle is only going to get worse, or better depending on who is leading.

Right now, the public is speaking. It all depends on what various leaders are hearing to decide if they are listening. Right now it appears that Donald Trump is doing the best job of listening.

Trump has tapped into a very strong public feeling that America is losing its way in the world.

In the American Presidential race, Donald Trump is telling people that “America will be great again”. It is a message that is resonating and bringing out voters in droves to listen to Trump in what can only be described as conversations with his audience.

Donald Trump gives speeches that appear to ramble across all the bases. If Trump were playing baseball, it might appear he heads for second base before rounding first. However it increasingly appears that Trump’s campaign is very carefully thought out and executed.

Trump, who is self funding his campaign, is telling people it is only him as President who will be able to resist the Washington insiders and paid lobby groups. Trump explained to a huge crowd in Atlanta Georgia that the Carrier Air Conditioner company is shipping out of its American factories and heading to Mexico.

Trump told them he would simply pop a 35% tariff on the units being imported into the United States, and that would bring the company to it’s knees.

Trump explained that Nabisco is also leaving the United States for Mexico. Trump explained that he will no longer eat Oreo cookies.

Those simple explanations brought huge roars of support and applause from the thousands of people attending the Trump event.

What Trump has done, and none of the other Republican candidates have been able to do is take the problems of today and put forward very simple solutions that people want to hear.

The Republican Party doesn’t seem to be able to reach overtop of the reach of Donald Trump. As the GOP establishment shifts toward Marco Rubio with Jeb Bush suspending his campaign, the search for someone who the party elite can control is growing.

That effort is also fuelling the determination of Trump and his growing base of support.

Will Donald Trump eventually make the jump to the Oval Office? That is anyone’s bet right now. However as time continues, it is looking ever likely that it could happen.

Marge Simpson might be hoping things get friendly in the political arena, but that too is a bet few would take. It is more likely the fight will be more and more bitter as time goes along.
