Charges Laid in District Jail Riot

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – The Thunder Bay Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch have charged five males as a result of the December 7, 2015 incident at the Thunder Bay District Jail when a Corrections Officer was taken hostage. Charged in this incident as a result of the investigation are;

1) Jeffrey KAKEGAMIC (35 years old) is charged with Hostage Taking, Rioting, Assaulting a Peace Officer, Assault with a Weapon, Threats to Cause Bodily Harm and Mischief under $5000.

2) Jeffrey ACHNEEPINESKUM (23 years old) is charged with Hostage Taking, Rioting, Threats to Kill, Assault with a Weapon and Mischief over $5000.

3) Justin BEAVER (24 years old) is charged with Rioting and Hostage Taking.

4) Carl RAE (33 years old) is charged with Rioting and Hostage Taking.

5) Russell FIDDLER (27 years old) is charged with Rioting and Hostage Taking.

A sixth male will also be charged in relation to this incident. This male was released from custody prior to the completion of the police investigation. The next court dates for Jeffrey ACHNEEPINESKUM will be March 10, 2016. All others have been remanded until February 16, 2016 for video court.
