Thunder Bay Queens Womeen's HockeyTHUNDER BAY – SPORTS –A trio of Thunder Bay Queens teams will be on the road this weekend competing in game action.

The RBC Dominion Securities bantam AAs head to Eden Prairie, Minn., taking part in the 10th annual Prelude to the Playoffs tournament and the peewee Queens travel to nearby Maple Grove, Minn., to compete in the Osseo Maple Grove Cabin Fever Classic while the Tim Hortons bantam A squad travels to Fort Frances for a three-game set against the St. Thomas Jr. Varsity.

Game action for the bantam AA’s begins Friday at 8:30 p.m. as Thunder Bay takes on Edina Green.

Two more tilts will be on the club’s slate Saturday starting with a 12:45 p.m. encounter with the Osseo-Maple Grove Orioles before finishing up with an 8 p.m. match-up vs. the North Wright County River Hawks.

A total of 12 teams will be vying for the title with a winner from each of the three divisions, plus a wild card team advancing to the semifinals Sunday morning.

There will be eight squads taking part in the Cabin Fever Classic with the peewee Queens meeting the host Orioles from Osseo-Maple Grove in their opener Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday’s action has Thunder Bay squaring off against the Alexandria Cardinals 10:15 a.m. before finishing up the day vs. North Wright County at 4:45 p.m.

Further opponents Sunday for the peewee Queens will be decided based on their round robin results.

Meanwhile the Tim Hortons bantam A side commence play in Fort Frances at 2 p.m. Saturday against St. Thomas.

They’ll meet the Jr. Varsity again at 8 p.m. before wrapping up the series Sunday at noon.

All three contests will be played at Couchiching First Nation Arena.
