THUNDER BAY – “Our government’s investment in the Northern Highways Program ensures that vital transportation links are improved and expanded across the North. This project will contribute to keeping the heavily travelled Trans-Canada Highway on Lake Superior’s Northern shore in good condition for both residents and visitors for years to come,” stated Michael Gravelle, the Minister for Northern Development and Mines.

The Ontario Government has announced that $2.1 million will be spent to  rehabilitate the Ozone Creek crossing on Highway 17 east of Nipigon. Work will begin this spring and is expected to be completed in fall 2016.

The contract has been awarded to L H North Ltd. & L H Crane and Rigging Ltd who are based in Rosslyn Ontario.

Nipigon Mayor Richard Harvey said, “These continued investments are both an economic benefit to our communities in the short term but also needed safety enhancements for the future.”
