Thunder Bay Police Arrest Suspect in Arson Homicide

Thunder Bay PoliceTHUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police have made an arrest in what the service now states was an arson that resulted in two deaths. In a media statement police say that “On January 15, 2016 at approximatly 4:30 p.m. a 40 year old male was arrested without incident at Police Headquarters located at 1200 Balmoral Street.”

The suspect will appear before video court on Saturday, January 16, 2016 charged with two counts of Second Degree Murder, Arson Endangering Life and Causing an Indignity to a Body.

The Brant Street fire claimed the lives of sixty-year-old Wilfred Pott and fifty-year-old Anne Chuchmuch.

Thunder Bay Police are sharing that more information will be available on Monday on this incident.

The charges have not been proven in court but would make for a total of three homicides in Thunder Bay during 2015. That figure is down dramatically from 2014 when there were eleven homicides in the city.
