THUNDER BAY – ROADS – The City of Thunder Bay is advising of a couple of road closures. There are a couple of watermain breaks which are disrupting traffic today.

Section of North James Street Closed for Water Main Repairs:  A section of North James Street will be closed to southbound traffic for most of the day while repairs are made to a water main.

The work area stretches from the intersection of North James Street and Ryerson Crescent eastward to the intersection of North James Street and Ryerson Crescent/Lambton Crescent.

Northbound traffic will not be affected, but southbound traffic will be rerouted onto Ryerson Crescent. Local traffic will have access to the work area.

The water supply to some area homes will be affected as the water main is repaired. Work is expected to be completed by about 4 pm today.

Balmoral and Central Avenue

Motorist are asked to avoid the intersection of Balmoral Street and Central Avenue today if possible while City crews work to repair a small water main leak.

The work is taking place on the southwest corner of the intersection. Lane closures will be in effect, and signage will be in place to guide traffic safely away from the work area.

The closure is expected to last until about 8 pm.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible, and to obey all posted signage and take extra caution if driving near the work site.
