NAPS Nishnawbe Police ServiceKASHECHEWAN – On December 2, 2015, Nishnawbe-Aski Police officers from the Kashechewan Detachment with assistance of the Fort Albany Detachment made a significant seizure under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Police seized $9,625.00 worth of Methamphetamine (Speed) pills and $10,840.00 worth of Marihuana totaling a northern street value of $20,465.00. Police also seized approximately $1,000.00 in Canadian currency.

Twenty-two (22) year-old Christiana SUTHERLAND of Kashechewan First Nation has been charged with Trafficking in Substance, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and Breach of Probation. SUTHERLAND was released from bail on conditions and will next appear in court on January 20, 2016 in Kashechewan, Ontario.

Kashechewan First Nation is located approximately 500 km northwest of Timmins, Ontario.
