Jeremy Adduono Back as SIJHL North Stars Coach

THUNDER BAY – SIJHL Hockey – The Thunder Bay North Stars have a new bench boss – Jeremy Adduono has agreed to terms to return as the head coach of the team he led the past two seasons. Adduono replaces Gary Wetzel, who was relieved of his coaching duties after 19 games and a 6-11-0-2 record.cropped-thunderbay.png

No stranger to Thunder Bay, Adduono coached the team the past two seasons under previous ownership only to be let go after compiling a 65-36-1-4 record. Named SIJHL Coach of the Year after last season, Adduono previously was an assistant coach with the Lakehead University Thunderwolves(2010-13).

As a player the Thunder Bay native started his Junior career with the Thunder Bay Flyers in 1994-95 followed by three seasons with the OHL Sudbury Wolves. A 7th Round draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Adduono played professionally for 11 seasons – four seasons in the American Hockey League before moving to play six seasons in Germany and one season in Italy.

Adduono takes over a team currently 7-11-0-2 with 16 points, tied for fourth in the standings. His first game will provide an opportunity to move up in the SIJHL standings as the North Stars host the Minnesota Iron Rangers (7-10-2-0) on Saturday night. Game time at Fort William Gardens is 7:30 PM.
