Thunder Bay Queens Womeen's HockeyDETROIT, Mich – SPORTS – The Thunder Bay RBC Dominion Securities bantam AA Queens were on both ends of shutouts in opening day action Friday at the Bauer World Hockey Invite in Detroit, Mich.

Thunder Bay began play in Michigan Friday morning by blanking Team Illinois 1-0 before falling 3-0 later in the day to the Whitby Wolves.

Against Illinois, the Queens controlled the game throughout outshooting their opponents by a 48-7 margin, but could not solve their goaltender until the late going.

With the contest scoreless well into the third period, Thunder Bay got a game-winner with two and a half minutes to go from Molly Kunnas with assists going to Lucy Newman and Dayna Doucet.

Josée Robinson posted the shutout in the victory.

In the match-up Whitby, the Wolves scored twice in the first period and one more in the middle frame to earn the decision.

Paige Wilson suffered the setback in goal for the Queens.

The team returns to the ice twice Saturday to wrap-up round robin play starting with an 8:55 a.m. face-off with the Madison Capitols before meeting Little Caesars from Detroit at 2:35 p.m.
