Thunder Bay Firefighters Knock Down Blanchard Street Blaze

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue on Brodie Street East

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Fire Rescue report, “At shortly after 5:00AM this morning the homeowner at 153 Blanchard Street awoke and discovered smoke coming from the home’s attached single car garage.

Thunder Bay Fire & Rescue was dispatched and on arrival found significant smoke and fire in the garage.

Suppression operations gained control of the incident quickly.

Measures undertaken to prevent the fire from spreading into the two-storey home were successful. The contents of the garage sustained heavy fire and smoke damage. There was no fire damage to the interior of the home and very minor smoke intrusion.

A preliminary investigation is under way but the fire is not considered suspicious at this time. Fire officals will conduct a more in depth investigation later on today. A fire crew is still on scene doing salvage operations. There were no injuries to report.
