Vehicle Theft Incident Involving Firearm at Confederation College

THUNDER BAY – Crime – Thunder Bay Police report that they were called at 9:30AM EDT on Friday morning about a theft of a vehicle involving a weapon in the parking lot at Confederation College.

In a media release from police they say, “Apparently the 19 year old male victim picked up a male in the Northwood Area and proceeded to drive to Confederation College. Once they arrived at that location, the male passenger produced a firearm and left with the vehicle. The victim was not injured. Police quickly arrived and put the vehicle out for location”.

The vehicle was stopped by the Ontario Provincial Police just west of English River and the lone male occupant was taken into custody. A replica handgun was recovered inside the vehicle. The suspect was returned to the Thunder Bay Police at approximately 3:00 p.m. and has been positively identified as an eighteen-year-old Thunder Bay resident.

He remains in custody awaiting a court appearance tomorrow morning on charges of Robbery, Uttering Threats and various weapons offences. He is also being charged for breaching two court orders.

The Investigation is ongoing.
