Thunder Bay Police report the gun has been recovered

Crime Report Thunder BayTHUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police report that “The stolen police firearm has been recovered. A third party turned the weapon along with one magazine into a local attorney this afternoon. Police were then notified”.

In a statement, Police say, “There are still 2 magazines which remain missing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers”.

The investigation surrounding the firearm being in the officer’s personal vehicle will be conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police.

The Thunder Bay Police Service officer whose firearm was stolen remains on administrative duties.

The Thunder Bay Police Service are grateful for the public and media support in getting this message out. The return of the firearm is a significant accomplishment in the interest of public safety.
